Reading
Read the
following passage then do the tasks below:
Salah Al-Din
was born in 1138 and died in Damascus in 1193. During his life
he did many
great things. He had bought together large parts of the Muslim
world. As a
strong believer in God and the prophet (peace be upon him), he
decided to free
Jerusalem which was in the Crusader hands all his life. Then in
summer 1187 he
defeated the Crusader at the Battle of Hitting. By summer 1192
most of them
had died or left Palestine. When king Richard became sick, Salah
Al-Din didn't
Attack. Instead, he sent Richard fruit and snow to make cool
water and even
his personal doctor.
Stories like
this show a leader who behaved fairly and generously, as well as,
one who was
brave and intelligent. They show us a leader who was a head of
the time.

Read the
following passage then do the tasks below:
Yasser Arafat
was one of the brilliant Palestinian leaders who gave the leader of
the Palestinian
cause an international fame. He was born in 1929. He became
the leader of
the Palestinian liberation organization. Arafat travelled to many
Arab countries
to gain support to the Palestinian cause and was not allowed to
go back home
because of the Israeli occupation. In 1974 the story of Palestine
became
well-known to the whole world when Arafat delivered his speech
bravely and
said that the Palestinians have the right to an independence state. In
1994 Yasser
Arafat came back home and set up the Palestinian national
authority in
Gaza and West Bank. In 2000, when Al-Aqsa Intifada started,
Arafat worked
hard to tell the world about the Israeli crimes. The Israeli
occupation
forced him to stay at the almoqataa in Ramallah until he tragically
died in 2004 in a hospital in Paris. Arafat's death is still secret
until now,
